THE BRANKE BUNCH:

12/48 (25%) of our class receive Special Education services.  We have students who are in an inclusive classroom for the very first time, and we have students who are experiencing their first year without a full time one-on-one paraprofessional.  We also have students who test at the high school level in mathematics AND reading.  We students with ADD, ADHD, ASD, LD... and who even knows what other acronyms!  We have 10 students with nut allergies.  We have students with severe health issues.  We have students with free and reduced lunch.  WE HAVE IT ALL!  But we couldn't love them more!!!

WE HAVE FOUND THAT A STRONG, POSITIVE CLASSROOM COMMUNITY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT OF OUR TEACHING!!!  


Here are some of the things we do to enhance our classroom community & climate:


  • MORNING MEETING:  We start each day with Morning Meeting.  This gives us a chance to greet everyone, address issues with our students, share our lives, etc.  
  • BRANKE BUNCH TEAM SHIRTS:  Last year we started making team shirts!  It makes us seem like a pretty big deal at our school!! :-)  It gives the kids a "uniform" or "jersey" for our team and fills them with more class pride than ever!  My kids from last year still wear theirs!!  We create the shirts at CustomInk and the kids order the shirts they want.  They pay for the shirts.  We also ask that parents sponsor another Branke Buncher's shirt to support families who cannot purchase one.  We make sure that each student has a shirt to build our community and bond.  We wear them to assemblies, field trips, and many wear them on Friday Spirit Days and throughout the week as well!  WE LOVE OUR SHIRTS!!  Check out our shirts for this year:

    We offered 6 shirt options.  The plain Gildan T-Shirt (BLACK OR WHITE), an American Apparel T-Shirt (TRI-BLACK OR TRI-ORCHID), and a Lightweight Gildan Hooded Sweatshirt (BLACK OR PURPLE).  Here is what they look like:
